I regarded the Alps as the symbol of the Trapps’ beloved country. It appeared three times throughout the movie, among which one was in the beginning and another was in the end, which eloquently revealed the importance of the hills, which is equivalent to the significance of the underlying patriotism.
At the beginning of the movie, Maria,the heroine of the movie, gave us the first song which is also the theme song --” The Sound of Music” on the Alps. The green grand hills which had stood there for thousands of years were “alive with the sound of music”. Though nothing else was framed except for the mountain, the tress and the sky, I could still feel birds flying and larks singing as if they all existed. The fair, vast and still nature in company with Maria’s song has totally kept me spellbound. I find my heart is filled as well as being blessed with the sound of music.
